If the Shoe Fits – – at the Craddock-Terry Hotel

We are staying at a fabulous hotel in Lynchburg, Virginia, called the Craddock-Terry. It’s actually a former shoe factory set on the James River, renovated in a unique artsy style. They’ve done a spectacular job of bringing their antique shoe theme to life throughout the hotel — right down to their sweet little terrier appropriately named Buster Brown. If you do have a dog, feel free to bring him/her along as canine friends are quite welcome to be part of the gang at this cool spot.

You just can’t miss the HUMUNGOUS red high-heeled shoe hanging from the side of the brick building, looking like it’s suspended in mid-air. Don’t believe me? Well, here it is below!

I was joking with Sam that we were going to helicopter him up into the pump so we could take his Christmas card picture up there. Man, wouldn’t that make a cool shot?! He wasn’t into it until we said he could repel down the side of the building afterwards. Where is Spiderman when you need him?! It’s probably a good idea to repel in pairs, at least for the first time or two.

Don’t look now, but there’s another gravity-defying shoe on the other side of the building that you can see when strolling along the James River! You sure don’t see that every day! (Well, at least I don’t, but I guess you might if you live in Lynchburg.)
