Back in 2000, I was struggling with the front door of my new apartment building on Boulevard when a two-year-old girl named Joy opened it for me. I became close friends with her and her parents. Joy was even the flower girl in my wedding two years later. In a heartbreaking twist in 2013, Joy died of a rare congenital heart condition as she trained for the high school track team. While at her funeral, I met her Uncle Greg. He knew that I was a writer, so he told me Susanna Bolling's story and encouraged me to write this book, Susanna’s Midnight Ride. Susanna’s sheer bravery amazed me. She taught me that everyone has something to contribute, whether big or small. If everyone pitches in together, it can add up to a herculean effort. It can even win a revolution! – Libby McNamee, #RVA . 🧐 Tell us about a young person who changed your life. Share your story!
